Sovereignty Stories Fairbanks Screening

SILA is excited to invite residents and visitors in Fairbanks, AK to our Sovereignty Stories event! We will have food, Inuit donuts, kids games, prizes, and a great screening of Inuit produced, directed, and led stories. This a free, all-ages event held at the Alaska Land/Pioneer Park Centennial Center.

These stories includes references to many culturally important elements such as body-based healing, using creative voice to release pain, story telling to understand others experiences and situations, and facing monsters.

These stories includes references to oppressive experiences and terms in societies of colonial heritage such as violence, suicide, mental illness and post-traumatic stress. Please see the the “Story + Appendices document downloadable on our website under each story.

Visit sovereigntystories.org to view these stories yourself and look at the attached documents. We hope to see you this Saturday for community fun!
